Question

Hello all,

Can you please tell me how flowers in « Link’s awakening » or water in »golf » are animated? I cannot figure out what trick the programmers used to get this result.

Thanks in advance for your help

Regards,

Tomi

Re: Question

It's extremely simple: just modify the tile data. For the water, the water tile is repeatedly overwritten with its different animation frames. Same for the flowers, etc.

Re: Question

If you use BGB, take a look at the VRAM viewer. You will see that one tile changes every few frames to create the animation effect. This is used in many games.
