Nobunaga's Ambition and other Koei war simulators for NES run in a bytecode virtual machine, believed to be the output of a C compiler. It started with NovaSquirrel finding C format strings in the ROM and led up to AWJ reverse-engineering a VM.
A question came up in gbdev Discord about commercial-era games written in the C language, and it was claimed that Affinix's unreleased Infinity for GBC was the only one. Does a similar bytecode VM exist in Nobunaga's Ambition for Game Boy?
